We're looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team in Sydney, working across cloud infrastructure, automation, and platform reliability. This is a permanent opportunity where you'll play a central role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable AWS-based systems that power production workloads at scale. If you're someone who cares deeply about system observability, deployment pipelines, and engineering quality, this role is worth a close look.
Designing, deploying, and maintaining AWS infrastructure across core services including Lambda, S3, EC2, and VPC
Building and managing containerised workloads using Docker, including image optimisation and container orchestration
Owning and improving CI/CD pipelines using Gitflow branching strategies to support reliable, repeatable deployments
Implementing and maturing observability practices — including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting — across distributed systems
Collaborating closely with software engineers in Agile ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog refinement
Identifying and resolving infrastructure bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and cost inefficiencies across cloud environments
Writing and maintaining infrastructure-as-code to ensure environments are version-controlled, reproducible, and auditable
5+ years of hands-on AWS experience with strong working knowledge of Lambda, S3, EC2, IAM, and networking fundamentals
Solid Docker experience — building, tagging, pushing, and running containers in production environments
Practical experience with Gitflow and managing branching strategies across collaborative engineering teams
Demonstrable observability experience using tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, or equivalent platforms
Comfortable working within Agile delivery frameworks — you understand how DevOps fits into the broader engineering delivery cycle
Experience writing infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tooling (highly desirable)
Strong communication skills — you can translate complex infrastructure decisions into clear language for non-technical stakeholders
Competitive base salary of $120,000 + superannuation for the right candidate
Permanent role with genuine long-term career development and progression pathways
Sydney-based team with flexible hybrid working arrangements
Access to AWS certification support and a dedicated learning and development budget
A collaborative engineering culture that values technical rigour, autonomy, and continuous improvement
